Science In The News 6
This article is about "Deer-Like Species: Extinct Cervid Species Remains Discovered in Barcelona" http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/10/131018132056.htm
Scientist have just discovered remains of an extinct cervid on the Iberian Peninsula. The animal names is Haploidocerod mediterranues lived about 90,000 years ago. This type of cervid are smaller than a normal deer. Researchers used antler's morphology to find what type of animal it was. The Cova el Rinoceronte is a Palaeolithic site of excavation scientist use since 2002, in which they have fund elephants and turtles. Now that they found a new species they know that they can find information of evolution.
In my opinion this article is credible and interesting. There are many species that have not yet found and this proves that researchers are getting close on finding this species. Gives an idea of different type of animals that have may live throughout evolution. The authors describes the article very well and gives information about the excavation site.
